Izmir Erkence Presidium Aegean Ancient Production Basins Natural Cold-Pressed Olive Oil
Izmir Erkence Presidium Olive Oil is produced from the fruits of erkence olive trees that grow only on the Izmir Peninsula. Erkence olive groves are formed by grafting the erkence variety onto deliceler (wild olive trees) that grow naturally in the Mediterranean forest ecosystem. No agricultural pesticides are used in the production cycle of early olive groves, the trees are not watered, and the olive groves are not fenced off. This allows these areas to preserve their ecosystem value and serve as pastures. This agroecological olive oil production, which begins with wild olive trees, has been certified by Slow Food International as the Aegean Ancient Production Basins Natural Cold-Pressed Presidium Olive Oil. This production culture, also recognized by UNESCO as “Intangible Cultural Heritage,” provides a habitat for numerous species.
In the production process of İzmir Erkence Presidium Olive Oil, early olives from the villages of Seferihisar, Urla, Karaburun, and Çeşme are handpicked one by one during the early harvest period. The olives are brought to our facility without delay and cold-pressed using a continuous system to produce natural extra virgin olive oil. İzmir Erkence Presidium Olive Oil has an acidity level of 0.6 and a high polyphenol profile, giving it a distinctive aroma.
