About Us
We are members of the Atıf Eken Farm, which has been growing wheat in Gelibolu, Çanakkale, for 250 years. We moved to Seferihisar in 2011 and ten About a year ago, we began to expand our tradition of wheat-based farming by producing olive oil in the Aegean region.
We named our new garden ‘Sevilma’ to honour the memory of our mother, Sevil Eken. We named our olive oil processing plant, which became part of the farm in 2022, after our father: the Ercan Baba Olive Oil Factory. Our farm was established through the dedication of the hard-working young people of Orhanlı village, and today they too have become an integral part of this family.
The aim of our work is not merely to produce and sell food. We work in this garden to foster harmony with nature, to pass on Anatolia’s civilisation of abundance to future generations, and to provide healthy food to everyone we can reach. Since 2025, we have been the only food producer in Turkey working to promote the global spread of agroecology as a member of the World Agroecology Association.
Sevilma is formed by the coming together of four different initiatives:
Sevilma Garden, Ercan Baba Olive Oil Mill, Yücel Sönmez Olive Oil Library and Sevilma Academy.
The Sevilma Garden, where we have been upholding the fundamental principles of agroecology since its establishment in 2011, was awarded the status of Turkey’s first Slow Food Farm at the end of 2024. We bring the limited quantities of produce grown at the Sevilma Garden from the countryside to your tables via our website. We work with enthusiasm and care to grow produce that a mother could feed to her child with complete peace of mind. We do not sell any produce that we have not grown ourselves.
We produce our Sevilma Olive Oils—for which we work tirelessly to ensure they are flawless and authentic—at the Ercan Baba Olive Oil Mill, the most special part of our estate. We adhere to the highest standards of hygiene at our facility. We are the only olive oil producer in Turkey dedicated to preserving and promoting the olive oil of the Aegean Ancient Production Basins, which have been recognised as cultural heritage by UNESCO and as a Presidium by Slow Food. With all these characteristics, the olive oils we produce “Slow Olive Oil” We define it as.
We established the Yücel Sönmez Olive Oil Library in March 2026, named after our journalist friend Yücel Sönmez, who passed away in 2025. The library is situated at the front of the factory building. The aim of the Olive Oil Library is to ensure that olive oil is experienced not merely as a packaged kitchen product, but as a living culture. With 70 different olive oils on its shelves rather than books, this library holds up a mirror to the unique diversity of the olive and its oil.
We launched the Sevilma Academy in 2026 to share the fundamental methods of producing in harmony with nature. Through workshops held throughout the year, we share the principles of living and producing in harmony with nature with our participants. There are no classrooms or rows of desks at this academy. Everything that surrounds us – from the trees in our garden to our olive oil mill – serves as our academy’s classrooms, textbooks and living laboratories.
Very soon, the Sevilma Children’s Playground – the brainchild and project of our mother, Sevil Eken – will also be launched as a new part of Sevilma.
There are plenty of ways to get involved in the Sevilma story. Our products you can use it for your special events At the Sevilma Garden you can do this. Olive Oil Library and Sevilma Academy You can join us in a kitchen that celebrates olives and production in harmony with nature. There’s a place for you at Sevilma.
May our abundance be plentiful and everlasting.
The Sevilma Team
The Values of Sevilma
Sevilma upholds both diversity and equality simultaneously and believes that unity in diversity is essential for the continuation of life. Every being is boundless in its individual, social and cultural existence; it possesses the purpose, power and right to infinite diversification. On the other hand, every being is equal in the sharing of life and its blessings. No person or group is superior to any other.
For this reason, the central idea behind Sevilma is to act as a vehicle for a culture of harmony. We might perhaps call this a “circular culture”. Such a culture is built upon four interrelated values…
Harmony with one another
Harmony with nature
Harmony with the past
Adapting to change
Sevilma is a link in the chain of this culture, whose roots lie in the ancient civilisation of Anatolia and whose greatest achievement is abundance. The Sevilma Team works to make these values a living part of our lives, starting with food. Ultimately, Sevilma is not merely a food producer for us, but also a school of life.
