Izmir Erkence Presidium Olive Oil is produced exclusively from early-ripening olive varieties found on the Izmir Peninsula. In these olive groves, where the trees are grown by grafting onto wild olive trees (delice), no chemical pesticides are used, no irrigation takes place and the soil is not ploughed. This agroecological approach to production, which is in harmony with nature, helps to preserve the region’s biodiversity.

This ancient production culture, which began with the Delice trees, has been recognised by Slow Food International as Ege Kadim Üretim Havzaları Natürel Sızma Presidium Zeytinyağı has been officially recognised as such. This cultural heritage, which has also been recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, provides a habitat for many living creatures.
